Asante Kotoko have formalized the acquisition of former Hearts of Oak defender Mohammed Alhassan on a free transfer.

The player was released by the former winners of the Ghana Premier League following a string of issues which bothered on non-performance and other disciplinary issues.

The player was officially confirmed by Kotoko on Thursday on a one-year deal.

Alhassan become a cogwheel for Accra Hearts of Oak during his playing days with the club. It was least surprising to see him with a number of trophies at the club.

He was part of the championship winning team that won the Ghana Premier League and back-to-back FA Cup trophies under then manager, Samuel Boadu in 2021.

Kotoko are currently stationed on 2nd position on the log after their thumping win over Accra Lions and are scheduled to take on Dreams FC over the weekend
