The National Sports Authority (NSA) has officially announced the closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for maintenance works.

The stadium that hosted Ghana’s 2025 AFCON qualifying game against Angola has become a subject of intense scrutiny and criticism over its poor nature.

Otto Addo in post-game reacted negatively to the nature of the pitch which saw his team lose to Angola.

Similarly, the opposition coach from Angola, Pedro Gonçalves was also on hand to have been dissatisfied with the nature of the pitch highlighting the need for Ghana to get a better pitch going forward.

The stadium is set to be closed for maintenance work to be done ahead of Ghana’s next home match on October 7, 2024.
