The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has allayed fears that the five additional members of the Black Stars technical team would be paid.
According to him, they are entitled to allowances, not salaries as speculated in the local media space.
French tactician Alain Ravera, Black Queens coach Kim Lars Björkegren, video analyst José Daniel Martínez, team physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero, and performance coach Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi have been brought on board to resource the team ahead of the World Cup.
“None of them is on a salary, but they will benefit from some of the allowances that are paid to the team, and these additions are just for the World Cup,” he said.
“Of course, they will also benefit from the winning bonuses that any member of the team is entitled to when they win, and, of course, the per diems paid to team members. They will also be entitled to other services that are rendered to every member of the team, but they are not on salaries.” he told CitiSports.
Ghana will play a series of high-profile friendlies against Austria on March 27 at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, Germany on March 30 in Stuttgart, and Mexico on May 22 at a venue yet to be announced.
For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Ghana will begin its campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England and Croatia in Group L.
