The Ghana Premier League 2020-21 season finally ended with Accra Hearts of Oak crowned victors after over a decade without the league.

Sadly, some of the last trenches of games have been marred with match-fixing allegations which caught the attention of stakeholders of the game, who have called on the Football Association to launch an investigation into these happenings which seems to be a recurring occurrence in the league.

Ghana Football Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum alluded to the fact that since 2017, none of the clubs is worthy to be called credible champions even though they won the league.

“Since 2017, we have had issues, we haven’t really had credible champions,

We tried as much as possible from the start of the season to educate our members on integrity issues  as much we put in a lot of hard work from the start of the season, it’s unfortunate that this thing happened on the final day of the competition”

He was however full of praise to the Association for the amount of work they put together to ensure that after four previous attempts the Ghana Premier League successfully came to close following truncations some seasons ago.

“I think the organization of the league too wasn’t bad, we had some issues here and there but I think we pulled it off ” he told JoySports.
