Nine African countries have qualified automatically for the 2026 FIFA World Cup from the gruelling CAF qualification campaign.
The nine countries that managed to secure qualification are :
- Morocco
- Tunisia
- Egypt
- Algeria
- Senegal
- Ivory Coast
- Ghana
- South Africa
- Cape Verde
Cape Verde will make their debut in the World Cup after their consistent display in the AFCON tournaments over the last five years. The country of over 500,000 people secured qualification after beating Eswatini by three unanswered goals.

Senegal, Morocco, and Tunisia, regulars at the World Cup, ensured they picked up wins in their final group games to secure qualification to the tournament.

Ghana, the Ivory Coast, and South Africa also made their presence felt in their respective groups as they topped it.
Meanwhile, Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo, and Gabon – the four best second-placed teams – will compete in a CAF playoff tournament in Morocco this November to determine who advances to the inter-confederation playoffs for a potential 10th African place.
