Nations FC did the unexpected as they gunned down Kotoko in a thrilling contest in game week twenty-three at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The host came into this fixture on the back of three-peat losses to Karela United, Accra Lions, and Aduana Stars and with pressure mounting on the technical and playing body, there was hope for an improved result in their home game.

The two coaches came into the fixture with the desire to pick a win and that was evident in the way they set up the team to play in this evening’s duel.

They both went at each other with loads of attacking play, with what was looking like a drub draw for the first half.

Afriyie Asamoah Boateng nodded the away side into the lead from an in-swinging cross from captain Emmanuel Boahene in additional time of the first half.

Coach Kassim Mingle shuffled things nine minutes after the first half with a hattrick of substitutions, Nafiu Sulemana, Isaac Botchway, and Sadiq Alhassan came through for Prince Acquah, Blankson Nuamah, Abdul Karim Nafiu.

In the 79th minute, Coach Ogum Narteh responded in equal measure taking off Emmanuel Kotei and Richmond Lamptey for Eric Zeze and Enock Morrison.

The Nations FC side held on resolutely to pick a win over their regional rivals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The loss is Kotoko’s fourth consecutive loss and sixth in seven games in the Ghana Premier League under the able leadership of Prosper Ogum Narteh and David Ocloo.
