Mohammed Kudus; Which project is best for him?

This summer’s transfer market is getting keener and receiving the buzz as it should. A host of Ghanaian players are making moves, similarly, one player that is relishing an opportunity to swap sides this summer is Mohammed Kudus of Ajax, Netherlands.

Mohammed Kudus. A young Ghanaian hotshot needs no introduction in the football landscape. An amazing talent that rolls heads with his silky contributions in goals and assists for his club side, Ajax and Black Stars.

English side, Chelsea are one of several teams that have joined the bandwagon of clubs expressing interest in bringing the young lad to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Prior to this interest from Chelsea, city rivals, Arsenal, Manchester United, Brighton, Everton, and Dortmund also firmed interest in Kudus.

In this piece, I detail my thoughts about this move. I will propose two options for Kudus at this point. He should stay a further season at the Dutch club or move to Dortmund or Brighton, who are one of two clubs that would be ideal for his development.

Why Dortmund and Brighton? Well, these two sides as we know are football development-oriented sides. There are a host of players (E. Haaland, O. Dembele, S. Kagawa, K. Mitoma, M. Caicedo, S. March) that have come through the ranks of either side, going on to make moves to other bigger sides.

I am not alluding that every player that comes through the two sides has taken the football world by storm but a host of them have received a lot of technical training, grooming, and development to their football which has shaped them for the task ahead, something, Kudus needs for the next step of his game.

The other is, if Kudus stays a further season at Ajax, he still has the tendency of developing his craft better, which will help him command a better transfer fee for the club as well as good suitors for next season. It’s least surprising that, Ajax manager Maurice Steijn revealed, he wishes to keep him for another season.

I hear a lot of people say that Ajax as it stands now are the development club Kudus’ career but what they forget is that, English side, Chelsea have just gone through a bad patch last season and have a new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, who will be in dire need of results.

There are a host of highly potential lads who made the switch the Chelsea and were tossed out on loans, Kevin De Bryune, Mohammed Salah, Lucas Piazon, Gael Kakuta, Marco Van Ginkel, our own Ghanaian brothers, Baba Rahman and deceased, Christian Atsu, are few examples that come to mind.

I could be wrong; Kudus could hit the ground running at Chelsea should he make the move to the London-based club. He is a true fighter; he could be one of the few Africans to make the mark at Chelsea just like Michael Essien almost a decade ago.

Hopefully, the representatives of Kudus make the right decision for his career.
