Arsenal and Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey has left manager Mikel Arteta in a very tight corner on the back of suffering a fresh injury over the weekend.

The 28-year-old energetic midfield gem was substituted in the Gunners’ friendly duel against Chelsea over the weekend.

In an interview with the club’s website, Arteta painted a rather gloomy picture about the injury situation of his star midfielder, who only moved to England from Spain in a highly publicized transfer window.

“I just had a talk with the doctor, he’s going to have a scan tomorrow [Monday] and at the moment it’s not looking good because he was in pain and he could not continue which, for Thomas, is pretty unusual.” he ended.

This news of Partey’s injury will give the manager a plethora of selection headaches ahead of the new season which is just weeks away.

The Ghanaian featured 33 times for his new club across all competitions failing to find the back of the net.
