Medeama to depart to Guinea on Thursday to face Horoya in the CAF Champions League

Medeama will depart to Guinea on Thursday to face Horoya in the CAF Champions League.

The reigning Ghanaian champions, Medeama SC, are set to depart from Ghana on Thursday for the pivotal second-leg match of their CAF Champions League encounter against AC Horoya in Guinea.

Having secured a 3-1 lead in the first leg, Medeama is eager to maintain their advantage and advance in the competition during their visit to Conakry.

The Mauve and Yellow will benefit from the return of several key players who were sidelined due to minor injuries, notably absent from the recent Ghana Premier League match against Aduana.

If successful, the Tarkwa-based club will be the first Ghanaian team to reach the group stage of the tournament in nearly a decade, following in the footsteps of Berekum Chelsea. This achievement would mark the second time Medeama has reached this stage of a continental championship, previously doing so in the CAF Confederation Cup.

In the opening round, Medeama secured their progression by triumphing over Nigerian side Remo Stars in a penalty shootout victory in Ikenne.
