Defending champion, Medeama SC basked their third win in four games at the expense of high-flying Samartex at Akoon Park.

Jonathan Sowah’s penalty on the stroke of halftime proved decisive in their 1-0 win over Samartex 1996 in the Western derby on Sunday.

The win pushed them up to 8th on the log with ten points from six games in the ongoing league.

Coach Evans Adotey effected a single substitution from the squad that beat Nations FC in midweek.

Striker Daniel Lomotey was handed a starting berth ahead of Nana Kofi Babil which saw the host go two–man affront in attack with Jonathan Sowah.

The game started with loads of frenzy and intensity as both teams gave each other lots to ponder about, it wasn’t until the stroke of half time that, Jean Vital Ourega was brought down in the penalty box –which saw red-hot, Sowah converted expertly for the home side.

Michael Ephson and Dauda Yussif Samartex were subbed on for Emmanuel Mamah and Francis Gyetuah in the 51st minute to help the away side get back in the game but it proved futile.
