A first-half header from Solomon Sarfo-Taylor was enough to help, Kotoko to bask a win over Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Before this game against the exciting Accra Lions side had not fared badly at home, their last win at home was a thumping home win over former table toppers, Aduana Stars, where they beat them by three goals to nil.

On the back of that win, the recently acquired side was looking to continue on that note, knowing they had to avenge their first-round loss against Kotoko.

Coach Tanko named his usual suspects, Dominic Nsobilla, Seidu Salifu, Seidu Basit, Abass Samari, and Evans Botchway in his starting eleven against the Porcupine Warriors.

For the defending champions, it was an opportunity to deepen the woes of the Accra-based side following their thumping win in the first round of the campaign.

Richard Boadu swung a perfect ball into the eighteen-yard box of the host which was met by George Mfegue but his header ricocheted off the post and fell kindly to Sarfo Taylor in the 21st minute who header home the only goal of the game.
