Kotoko edged out Bofoakwa Tano in a close contest at the Sunyani Coronation Park in game week seventeen of the Ghana Premier League.

The home side had been on a turbulent run of form, winless in their last six games of the league which saw the sacking of their former head coach, Frimpong Manso after a string of bad results in the league.

With the host playing at home for the first time since their ban, coach John Eduafor Jnr named a strong starting berth that featured the likes of, Emmanuel Ankrah, Emmanuel Kobi, Emmanuel Agyenim, Kelvin Oppong, Steven Owusu, Saaka Dauda.

Prosper Ogun Narteh and his boys have been on such good form that they were looking to continue and it was least surprising that predatory Ugandan forward, Steven Mukwala found the back of the net just twenty minutes into the game.

The second half was full of intense battles in midfield but some clever play on the left-hand of attack from John Tedeku, Isaac Oppong saw Richmond Lamptey tee up Steven Mukwala for his second goal of the game in the 80th minute.

The loss represents the host’s third in six games while the Porcupine Warrior’s roller-coaster ride continues, six wins in seven games.

Kotoko is up to second the three points adrift of Samartex at the summit of the table.
