Match Report: Performance of new players and trialists as Kotoko beat Panthers FC in Friendlies

Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat Panthers FC 4-2 in a pre-season friendly at the Legon Park in Accra on Monday morning.

The match saw a blend of old players, new players, and a few trialists/unannounced players from the Asante Kotoko team.

One of the unannounced players was announced as a Kotoko player almost immediately after the friendly game yesterday.

Here are the reports of the new faces featured in a friendly game against Panthers FC.

Moise Poauty: He made few one-one-one saves, can react fast after saving a shot and showed a limpse of goalkeeping intelligence. He wasn’t at fault for both goals and has potentials of challenging Danlad for the number one spot,

Trailist 1 (Left-back): He was fairly good upfront but came short when it came to defensive duties; first goal came from his side and he could have done more to stop the guy from getting into the box to win a penalty. Overall, he looked promising, just needs to work on his defending and positioning.

Thomas Pele: He is good passer of the ball and is fairly good in the air, but he looked unconvincing and shaky in one-on-one situations. Couldv’e done better in the penalty incident; got dribbled easily and resorted to fouling the player from behind.

Ernerst Osei Poku: Played as if he has been with the team for a long time and scored a goal to boost his confidence. He however overlapped and created spaces for opponent counter attacks several times. Overall looked solid and could get better.

Stephen Mukwala: A player with impeccable positioning; no surprise his goal was as a result of being in the right place at the right time. He however, looked like a player who would struggle if played as a lone striker as he would flourish with another attacking player linking up with him.

Trialist 2 (Center back): Very good with his passes and partnered very well with Mubarik Yusif in the second half to give Kotoko a clean sheet in the second part of the game.

Trialist 3 (Left Back): He was strong defensively but barely made attacking runs, Partenered very well with Trialists 2 and managed to stop several attacking runs at the left side.

Enoch Morisson: Did little in the game and ended up lost in the game and was substituted. Looked like he his still trying to adapt to the team.
