Kotoko proved too strong for their regional rivals in the derby at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

In six previous meetings, the Porcupine Warriors had fought it uphill to beat their city rivals.
Coach Prince Owusu of Kotoko was a man under immense pressure, needing a win to soften the mounting pressure on him from the club’s fans and other vested parties.

He named a strong lineup with Libya returnee Albert Amoah leading the charge.
A perfectly weighted cross from Emmanuel Kotei found the head of Albert Amoah, who nodded past Burkinabe goalkeeper Sanon for the game’s opener at the 23rd-minute mark.
    The first half ended, 1-0.
The away team found their mojo in the second half but found chances limited to come by as their efforts were thwarted by a defense led by Samba O’Neil.
Yahaya Baba was fouled in the box by an opposing player in the box, with referee Wormavor adjudging a penalty, which was smartly converted by Samba Oneil, his sixth of the season and the club’s second on the day.
