Asante Kotoko earned the bragging rights over Hearts of Oak when the pair clashed at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Morifing Donzo proved the difference between the two giants of Ghana football.

Kotoko started the game well, with Saaka Dauda coming close with the opener on the fifth-minute mark.

There were chances for Hubert Gyau, Peter Amidu Acqua, but their efforts failed to beat the Black Stars’ number one goalkeeper, Benjaimen Aare.

Kotoko’s dominance paid off as Amidu Acquah was brought down by Amankwah Baafi in the box.

Guinean import, Morifing Donzo – his first goal for Kotoko, after Amidu Acquah was brought down by Amankwah Baafi in the box.

The second half saw a bit of urgency in play from the Phobias, who were down by a lone goal.

Raphael Amponsah, substitute Karikari, and Hamza Issah all came close to the leveller but were met with a concrete wall of defense from the Porcupine Warriors.

For a moment, the Phobians had their tongues cut into their mouth as  Assibey’s back pass to a teammate found  Donzo charging on goal, but for the timely intervention by Ali Mohammed to thwart the danger.

Hearts of Oak will feel they should have gotten a point from the game, but having failed to create clear goal-scoring opportunities, as well as having no shots on target, will mean they walk home as losers of the most anticipated duel in Ghana football.
