Asante Kotoko secured a thumping win against Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The win marks an end to their three-game winless run, giving coach Bashir Hayford the much-needed respite after calls for his sacking after a stretch of bad results.
Captain Samba O’Neil opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half, giving the home team something to cheer about.

Albert Amoah marked his return from the Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi with a sensational overkick for the second goal of the game.
Kwame Opoku was introduced with six minutes to end proceedings, and it was least surprising that the once-loved Kotoko forward also scored an overkick to send the home fans into frenzy as he was teed up by Albert Amoah.

The win shoots the Porcupine Warriors to third place despite eight points behind leaders Medeama.
Basake Holy Stars are still battling the relegation zone and have an uphill task against Berekum Chelsea while Kotoko will next travel to Kpando to face Heart of Lions.
