Hearts of Oak did the needful when they produced a gallant performance over a resurgent Legon Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The away side were coming into this fixture with the sole objective of winning knowing that their cross rivals, Kotoko had won their a day prior against Karela United.

It was no surprise that Fredrick Ansah- Botchway, who was making a starting berth in place of the suspended Emmanuel Nettey shot the Phobians into the lead followed by the club’s second from Obeng Junior and consolation from Victorien Adebayor powering a sweet free-kick.

The second half saw the opposing, Legon Cities probed on multiple occasions for the much-needed equalizer from Jonah Attuquaye, Victorien Adebayor, Hans Kwofie but their efforts were nullified by a strong backline made of Mohammed Alhassan, Robert Addo Sowah, Fatau Mohammed, and Raddy Ovouka.

The win sees Accra Hearts of Oak resume their spot at the summit of the table ahead of their spirited encounter against Kotoko on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
