In the battle of the two Hearts, between Hearts of Lions and Hearts of Oak, a goalless draw was played out at the Kpando Sports Stadium.
On the back of exiting the MTN FA Cup last week at the hands of Dreams FC in Cape Coast, the home team was looking to appease their fans with a win against a spirited Phobia team.
Coach Didi Dramani effected several changes. David Oppong Afranie was pushed back to defense to assist Mohammed Ali, Baba Adamu, and Emmanuel Amankwaah as fullbacks.
The three-man midfield comprised Abdul Karim, Raphael Amponsah, and Mohammed Hissein. Hamza Issah, Mawuli Wayo, and Stephen Appiah Aasre served as the attacking trio.
The first half failed to produce any goals between the two teams, with the home team’s real effort coming from Ismail Abambilla.
The second half saw the away team control large portions of the game and create chances but wasted them all. Emmanuel Amankwah, Mohammed Ali, Oppong Afranie, Mohammed Hussein, and Benjaimen Asare all got into the referee’s book at various stages of the game.
Ishmael Addo and Anthony Owusu also received bookings from the center man in the 19th minute.
Mawuli Wayo, Mohammed Hussein, Appiah Asare, Hamza Issah, and Emmanuel Amankwah were all shoved out by Yaw Baafi, Kwaku Boateng Henry, Ransford Mensah, Frank Duku, and George Paaku.
This would be yet another goalless draw game for Hearts of Oak. Their 20th clean sheet in 25 games, and Benjaimen Asare’s 12th clean sheet in over 15 games for the club.
Phobia will face Swedru All Blacks in the next home fixture.
Lions will rue every chance missed at any opportunity of breaking into the top half as they play Young Apostles next in the Ghana Premier League.
