The Black Stars failed to make the most of their superiority as they drew goalless with solid Sudanese opponents in the ongoing  2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The senior national team hoped for a reaction after they drew 1-1 with Nigeria in Morocco for the second game of the qualifying series.

Coach Otto Addo named a strong starting lineup for matchday three, interestingly,  Mohammed Kudus manned the captain’s armband ahead of Jordan Ayew and in the absence of Thomas Partey.

Atalanta midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana got his first bow with the  Black Stars partnering Elisha Owusu in a double pivot. Ernest Nuamah, Jordan Ayew, and Antoine Semenyo formed the attacking trio.

Ernest Niamah glided past his opponent and shot the first attempt, followed by a plethora of missed opportunities by Antoine Semeneyo in the first half.

Kudus and substitute Inaki Williams also took turns to break the game’s deadlock, but their chances failed to hit the back of the net.

Ghana and Sudan shared the points.

The results see the Black Stars with two points from nine in three games.

They play Sudan in the reverse fixture in Libya five days from today, October 10, 2024.
