Ghana Black Stars failed to continue off from their midweek victory against Madagascar as they drew 1-1 with Central African Republic in game two of the AFCON 2023 qualifying round of games in Angola.

Ghana coach, Otto Addo ringed seven changes from the team that beat, Madagascar at the Cape Coast Stadium. The Ayew brothers, Fatawu Issahaku, Baba Iddrisu, and Joojo made way for Kofi Kyereh, Joseph Paintstil, Edmund Addo, Osman Bukari, and Atti-Zigi.

The four-time AFCON Champions started the game very well, Daniel Kofi Kyereh got the first shot of the game but flew above the goal post of the opponents.

The joy of watching how the boys string passes, with loads of fluidity and mobility, paid off during the 17 minutes mark as the movement from Afena & Bukari created a budding space for Mohammed Kudus to register Ghana’s first, his second in two games.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi making a return to the starting berth failed to keep, Karl Namnganda from scoring the leveler with no fans available to cheer the home side’s first goal of the qualifying series.

After recess, there was little to choose from both teams as there were too many stop-starts which affected the fluidity of the game to the disservice of the Blackstars.

The introduction of Kamaldeen, Fatawu, Baba Iddrisu, and Kwesi Wriedt later in the game failed to positively switch things up for the Stars, who will feel disappointed amongst the two for dropping huge points in the qualifying series.

The results see Ghana top the pack with 4 points followed by Angola and Madagascar tied on 3 points with Central African Republic with a a point from 2 games.
