Kotoko was thumped without a trace by Accra Lions in a keenly contested midweek fixture of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The hosts have not had an easy spell thus far losing three of their last five games which has heightened pressure on them.

On the back of losing to Karela over the weekend, coach Prosper Ogun Narteh ringed some changes Moise Pouaty in the post, Emmanuel Kotei got into a nod in the starting lineup for the right back position, Justice Blay, Henry Ansu in center back, Eric Zeze, Kalo Outtara, Rocky Dwamena and Steven Mukwala.

Blessing Asuman Dankwa got on to the end of a fantastic pass from a teammate and slotted one past Moise Pouaty in the 12th minute of the game.

Kotoko’s pressure paid off as a lobbed pass from Nurudeen found the chest off Kalo Ouattara who brilliantly controlled to thunder a shot through the legs of goalkeeper, Andrew Owusu for the equalizer.

Two minutes after the resumption of the second half, Blessing Dankwa doubled his tally for his side as a poor clearance from Justice Bay allowed Dominic Amponsah to thread one through to the goal scorer who effortlessly raced his way through the defense to score the second on the night.

A breathtaking counterattacking football from the away side saw Dominic Amponsah score a stupendous goal from 20 yards for his side’s third of the game.

Henry Ansu’s defense-splitting pass saw Michael Somuah halve the deficit in the 85th minute but it came a little late as the away side held on gallantly to that massive victory away from home.
