Two of Ghana’s most decorated clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are set to test each other’s resolve when the pair face off at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi this Sunday.

Following the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium for extracurricular activities for December 2023, the capital club, Hearts of Oak has resorted to the usage of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for their home games in the meantime.

The home team hasn’t had the best of fortunes, a single win in five games hasn’t augured well for the former champions, but a win against their guest can set the tone for their season.

Hearts of Oak coach, Abdul Rahim Bashiru has opined on the need for his side to score the opportunities they create in games and hopefully, they do so as they have only scored nine in thirteen games.

On the back of three disappointing losses, the Porcupine Warriors have picked up very well, with four consecutive wins in all matches but wins against, Berekum Chelsea, Legon Cities, and Medeama SC have set the team on ascendency.

These three repetitive wins have pushed up Prosper Ogun Narteh and his boys up to 7th on the log with 19 points, five adrift of the current toppers, Aduana Stars.

The head-to-head meetings between the pair favor the host who has conjured two wins and drawn two in the last five meetings.

These longstanding games between the pair have not towed on form, any time a team that braces the responsibility of making full use of the opportunities is always on the receiving end of the three points as well as the bragging rights.

PREDICTIONS: HEARTS OF OAK 1-1 KOTOKO
