Ghanaian Premier League club Kumasi Asante Kotoko have mutually ended their association with Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto.

The club made the announcement via their Twitter handle about this new development that both parties no longer have ties together.

Barreto took over from Maxwell Konadu mid-season in the Ghana Premier League 2020-21 campaign but failed in his quest to help the club win any trophy, losing out on the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup to Accra Hearts of Oak.

However, the Portuguese trainer in some of his post-match interviews made some comments that were deemed unfit and derogatory to the Kotoko brand which decreased his chances of continuing as head coach of the Kumasi-based club.

Meanwhile, Kotoko are in line to name Prosper Ogum Narteh(WAFA SC) as their new manager if everything goes according to plan in the next few days.
