Akim Oda-based club Kotoku Royals took a giant step in securing promotion to the Ghana Premier League next season after playing out a pulsating goalless draw with Tema Youth on Sunday.

The home side, Tema Youth, Liberty Professionals, and Kotoku Royals were all in contention of securing a ticket for next season’s league competition.

Liberty Professionals failing to pick maximum points against Susubiribi means that Kotoku’s draw against Tema Youth was enough to hand them the second slot after Samartex to gain promotion to the elite league of Ghana football.

This is a massive victory for the people of Oda, its surrounding enclave, and  Eastern Region as they will be the first team to rejoin the league since Power FC exited in 2007.
