Kotoko’s problems go beyond a coaching issue – Maxwell Konadu

Nsoatreman head coach Maxwell Konadu has admonished that the current happenings at Kotoko transcend a coaching problem.

The Porcupine Warriors have struggled for consistency in the last few weeks since the return of the second round of the league.

On Thursday, they lost 2-1 to Nsoatreman FC at the Baba Yara Stadium, their fifth defeat from seven games in the league.

The loss has heightened pressure on the technical team, which has made the club’s fans register their displeasure by calling for the head of the technical team.

Speaking to Akoma FM, on what seems to be the issues plaguing his former side, Konadu revealed that, it’s beyond the current technical team led by, Prosper Narteh Ogum.

“I don’t believe it is a coaching issue. When the players play, it is clear that they are afraid,”

“The demands placed on the players appear to put them under additional strain. They lack the character required to play as a Kotoko player, which I believe is their issue.”

“This is the critical moment for the players to have the support of the media and fans. Much pressure from these stakeholders will not help matter,” he continued.

“Instead, fans should support the technical team and playing body to turn things around. The players are not bad; none of them will be benchwarmers at any GPL club, but they appear to panic when playing.

“The players are not bad. None of them will be benchwarmer at any GPL club, but they appear to panic when playing.”

Kotoko will hope to redeem themselves as they play away to Dreams FC at the Dawu Park on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
