Asante Kotoko staged a dramatic turnaround against Nsoatreman FC in a thrilling encounter to win the J.A. Kufuor Cup at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Nsoatreman’s unending pressure on the Porcupine Warriors paid off on the stroke of halftime as Abdul Rahman Mohammed’s header was beyond the reach of Kotoko’s goalkeeper Fred Asare.

In the second half, Kotoko picked themselves up and began to show promise as they were duly rewarded through Ugandan forward Mukwala in the 56th minute of the game who connected with a Richmond Lamptey corner kick.

The away side was gifted with a fine opportunity to regain their lead in the game. Still, Maanaf Adbul Umar missed the resulting penalty kick much to the disappointment of head coach Maxwell Konadu and his charges.

The Reds gathered momentum from that penalty scare as Lamptey threaded a through pass to Amidu who slotted one past the onrushing, goalkeeper Denni Votere in post for Nsoatreman FC.
