Kotoko CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah has waded into the growing debate about the low turnout at league centres in the ongoing BetPawa Premier League.

In the last few weeks, numerous personalities have had their fair taste on why games are not attracting interest like they used to in the past.

Kurt Okraku queried in a recent interview why Kotoko and Hearts have been unable to attract a huge following to the league centres.

“The two teams (Kotoko & Hearts) have a lot to do to bring back the fans. It’s up to Kotoko to ask why their fans aren’t consuming their game & the same as Hearts of Oak. The fans belong to the clubs and not the GFA but we will do our part” he ended.

But in a recent tweet rebuttal, the Kotoko CEO recounts via his official Twitter handle how ideas from over 14 years gave not been implemented to help save the dwindling fortunes of the league.

“In 2009 (14 years ago), GHALCA in collaboration with PLB and GFA held a seminar at the Accra Sports Stadium to ascertain why people were not attending league matches. I was invited by then GHALCA Administrative Manager Mr. Kurt Okraku as a Guest Speaker”

He added ” A committee was later formed to implement ideas put forward by all speakers. I’m sure President Kurt Okraku would be the right person to tell us where that committee report is and of course has the power to implement same now that he is GFA President”

He added that the prevailing circumstances in the country will make it difficult for the two glamorous clubs to sway supporters to match venues.

“I bet you those ideas won’t cost $1m to implement. The integrity of sports hinges upon the uncertainty of results. Kotoko and Hearts cannot build a Heaven in a Hell” he tweeted.
