Karim Zito fails to show up for press conference after Black Satellites crash out of WAFU U20 Championship

Ghana Black Satellites coach Karim Zito opted not to show up for the post-match press conference after the Blac Satellites failed to progress to the next stage of the competition following their 2-1 defeat against Burkina Faso.

After the disappointing defeat, Karim Zito sent his deputy to attend the press conference in his stead; Fatawu Salifu and player Gilbert Narh spoke to the media after the game.

Speaking to the media, Gilbert Narh defended the technical team and insisted they did their best and the blame should be placed on the players, not the coaches.

“We created many chances in the Nigeria game and even today but we did not take them,” Gilbert said

“The coach and technical team have done their best, we the players didn’t; we lost hope. Tactically we were very good but couldn’t take our chances” he added

The Black Satellites who won the 2020 edition of the Africa Youth Championship in Mauritius will not be able to defend the title – when the Nations Cup which will serve as qualifiers for the World Cup is held in Egypt from February 18 -to March 12, 2023.
