Kalidou Koulibaly Spotted in London for Chelsea Medicals

Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly has landed in London to complete his medical ahead of his £34million move to Chelsea.

Koulibaly is set to become the Blues’ second signing of the summer after Raheem Sterling, the center-back traveled with his agent Fali Ramadani from Milan’s Linate Airport in a private jet and landed in London on Wednesday evening.

The Senegal international is expected to have his medical today before completing a five-year- contract, with the option of a further year, that will see him earn £300,000 per week.

If everything goes well, the 31-year-old will then have to complete his paperwork before flying out to the US and link up with his new team-mates for pre-season.

The defender is expected to make €10m per season in his new contract with Chelsea, who are paying the Serie A side a fee of €40m for the move.

Gazzetta Dello Sport writes about the ‘long’ time Koulibaly has been on Thomas Tuchel’s radar, as the London side had been looking to replace Antonio Rudiger, who went to Real Madrid as a free agent this summer.

Following the signing of the contract, the Senegalese defender is set to join Chelsea’s squad for their American pre-season tour. According to the report, he could make his debut for the Blues in the match against Charlotte FC on July 20th.

Koulibaly left Napoli after eight years at the club, in which he made 317 appearances for them, and was appointed captain.
