In his absence, Jordan Ayew will take on the captaincy mantle which has been passed on to him by head coach Otto Addo.

Speaking on Thursday, Otto Addo explained the rationale behind picking Jordan as captain.

‘The initiative was to make Thomas the captain to guide the team. But once he is not there, I had to speak to Kudus and I decided to make him the captain in Thomas’ absence.’’ Otto Addo told journalists at the Ghana Football Association’s secretariat.

Otto further disclosed that he held significant talks with Kudus Mohammed before to iron things out.

‘‘I have decided to pick a new captain for the team which will be Jordan. So I talked to Kudus for him to understand that I will want him to grow into the role and be the second captain alongside Djiku.’’

‘‘Jordan will take over now, from now and he will lead and guide the team.’’

The Black Stars will hope for better results in their upcoming games against  Angola on November 15 in Luanda and Niger for a chance of securing qualifications.
