FC Sheriff defender Patrick Kpozo has expressed his excitement about making his full debut following the BlackStars’ goalless draw against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Sunday.

The budding full-back made his debut on the back of injuries to Baba Rahman and Gideon Mensah over the weekend in the qualifying series against Madagascar.

Speaking to Citi Sports on what it means for him to make his debut for the BlackStars, he wasn’t particularly happy about the team’s draw but on a positive note, he remarked that, it was a dream to play for the national team.

“It’s everyone’s dream to play for the national team so if you get a call up to a national team, I’m proud, it was not the debut I wanted because I was expecting us to win, but we didn’t. However, it’s okay,”

On whether he was nervous on his debut, the confident, Kpozo said he saw the game as a normal game.

“I never felt nervous, and I am very okay. Before the game, the coach, Chris Hughton, informed us that the pitch was in a terrible condition, which influenced our playing style to some extent, but overall, it was fine.” He ended.

Kpozo will hope to make the next call-up under coach Chris Haughton in the final group E game against Central African Republic (CAR) in September at the Baba Yara Stadium.
