Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has bemoaned the poor state of pitches used for games in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

According to the MP, the sorry state of some of the pitches is not desirable for football games as he likened them to “death traps”.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament in the wake of Asante Kotoko fan Francis “Nana Pooley” Frimpong, who was gruesomely murdered at Nsoatre in the game between the host and Kotoko.

He asked endless questions regarding the security of a fan at match venues “I was very sad to hear my colleague mention that they were struggling to get very simple first aid. We don’t have ambulances,” Isaac said on the floor of Parliament.

“You have no business playing football in such a field. That is a death trap, but we go there, and nothing happens, so we think that is a football field – no,” he added.

“What was the police situation at the football field? Where were the police? What was the security requirement that was supposed to be upheld in the stadium?” he questioned.
