Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren patted his players’ efforts after a spirited performance against Morocco in the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Queens drew 1-1 with Morocco in regular and extra time but failed to advance after losing 4-2 in a penalty shootout in Rabat.

Speaking after the match, Björkegren noted, “I think we have a team that works so hard. Of course, when they had fresh legs in the first half, it was easier. We were completely dominating the game. In my opinion, we were better.”
He added, “In the end, we were just fighting to stay in the game. But what can you expect when you have a game so close to this one? Yeah, I’m proud of what the team gave.”
