Ghana coach Otto Addo has revealed that he made it clear to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from the start that he could only take up  interim manager of the Black Stars.

According to him, the football association’s hierarchy were in the known that he could combine his duties at club level, Dortmund as well as his national team assignment with Ghana.

This comes after repeated calls from a section of Ghanaians for Otto Addo to resign from his role as a scout of Dortmund and fully concentrate on the national team job but he has strongly suggested that the authorities are aware of his ambitions.

“The association had already asked me to coach in February, but at that time their priority was on someone who could work permanently for Ghana,”

“The offer was a great honour for me. In the talks, I made it clear that I could do the national team job on an interim basis and as a dual function with my Dortmund work. I think as a national coach you should also live in the country you work for in the long term.

“Of course, many things can also be organised and delegated remotely in the short term. But I see myself staying in Germany, at least for the next few years,” he told the World Soccer Magazine.

Otto Addo masterminded Ghana’s qualification to its fourth World Cup and are housed in a group that contains Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
