Alex Aso fired GoldStars to an important home victory over former winners of the league, Aduana Stars in game week twenty-seven at the Duns Park in Bibiani.

The host was still reeling from last weekend’s away loss to Accra Lions bringing an end to their wave of six games unbeaten run in the second round campaign.

Coach Frimpong Manso named captain, Kusi Ernest in goal, Atingah Vincent, Gideon Anaba, Dankyi William, and Yahaya Adraman in defense, bolstered by an attack off, Aso Alex, Frimpong Roland, and Owusu Prince.

The home side created a lot of chances in the opening half of the game through which they rewarded a minute to cap off the first half as Alex Aso pounced on an effort from a teammate to slot one past, goalkeeper, Yaw Fufuro-Ansah.

The game ended in victory for the host, who held on resolutely for their seventh consecutive win at home.

Speaking to Saharafootball.net after the game, Aso, remarked on the importance of getting back to winning ways after losing to the Accra Lions.

“This win means a lot to us (players) after our loss to Accra Lions, we needed a win to push us forward on the league table and also to put a smile on the face of our supporters who keep supporting us through the good and bad times”

On what a season, he is having with his new side, Aso replied with a smile, saying,

“It was a great performance because as a striker I must score goals for the team, I am happy my goal made a difference for my team today, it won’t stop there”. He ended.
