Kwesi Appiah has voiced out the reason leading to his appointment as Technical director of Kotoko.

After the dissolution of Dr. Kwame Kyei’s led board and Nana Yaw Amponsah’s led management, Kwesi Appiah was handed the reins of technical director of Kotoko.

According to Appiah who doubled as Sudanese head coach combining both jobs had a toll on one especially the Kotoko job mainly because he was out of the country.

“We wanted Prosper Narteh Ogum to concentrate on the team and that was why Malik Jabir was appointed. I was the technical director but I am mostly away and we needed someone to come in as soon as possible who help the coach,” he said.

“The truth is that I did not deserve the technical directorship of Asante Kotoko due to my work with Sudan so we all agreed that let us bring in Malik Jabir because he has coached the various national teams,” he added.

He also hinted that the club will appoint an assistant technical director.

“He [Malik Jabir] is a former player and he is willing to do that work. He is willing to travel with the team and for the games that he cannot travel with the team, his assistant will join the team and assist Prosper Nartey Ogum,” he added.
