Heart of Lions coach Fatawu Salifu optimistic about getting first league win despite slow start

Heart of Lions, making their return to the Ghana Premier League, are still in pursuit of their inaugural victory in the ongoing season after participating in five matches. Nevertheless, their coach, Fatawu Salisu, remains confident about the team’s potential to put an end to their streak without a win.

In their most recent fixture, they managed a 2-2 draw against Bibiani Gold Stars. This match witnessed a remarkable comeback as they recovered from a 0-2 deficit, with Mustapha Yakubu and Ebenezer Abban finding the net in response to goals from Alex Aso and Appiah McCarthy for Bibiani.

In a post-match interview, Coach Salisu expressed his desire for his team to secure their first win of the season. He viewed their performance in front of the goal as a promising sign that a victory is on the horizon.

“I must say I’m satisfied, at least it’s better than coming to lose, so of course, I’m very satisfied with the performance of my boys,” Coach Salifu commented.

“We’re still looking for our win… the scoring (of goals) is sometimes a challenge we have, but we utilized at least two of our chances that gave us at least a point. Scoring today tells me that it is coming, and I’m sure we are winning matches to come.”

As it stands, Heart of Lions currently occupy the 15th position in the 18-team league standings.
