Govt. implores GFA to make presentation on how to make the GPL safe again

The impact of the novel Coronavirus cannot be underestimated, lives have been lost as a result, major economies have granded to a halt, whiles football like many other disciplines have been severely affected.

The Ghana Football Association have held a series of virtual meetings with the government in ambition to restart the league but the country’s Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has implored the association to implement a comprehensive plan of how they think it will be safe to resume football activities and present it to the government for further deliberations.

In a recent interview with Accra based Atinka FM, he said lives were important in the current dispensation and asked the association not to be angry.

“Don’t be angry, we are talking about people’s safety here, protecting lives is at stake, so there should be no reason to be angry.”

“The football people should take their time and make a good representation of how they can play football again whiles they can still protect people, don’t be angry.” He added.

One of the country’s Associations being the Golf Association have sort to negotiate with the government with the sole purpose of getting it to lift the ban.

“When you do that government will have a discussion on it. For instance, the Golf Association has brought their presentation urging the government to open the various golf parks for them and even gave measures they have put in place to allow them to play their game amid COVID-19.”

“So this is not the time for GFA to be angry but rather should follow the same step,”

It remains to be seen if the GFA will follow in the footsteps of Germany in restarting the league or cancel it as some African countries have done, Kenya, Guinea, Congo, Zambia, Ethiopia, Mali, and others.
