The 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season kicked off on Sunday 29th of January much to the delight of the fans who trouped in match venues to watch their various teams play.




Matchday One was an exciting one with many goals flying in. 25 goals, 5 home wins, 3 away wins and 1 drawn game in the opening week of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

Hearts of Oak 0-1 Berekum Chelsea

Accra Hearts of Oak began their campaign with a shock home defeat against superb Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Jonah Attuquaye’s deflected goal was the only thing that separated both teams on Sunday in the league opener.

Bechem United 2-0 Elmina Sharks

Bechem United made a remarkable start to the season by beating Elmina Sharks 2-0 at home.

Goals from youngsters Kwadwo Asamoah and Prince Adu Kwabena, who was making his debut in the league, helped the home side to break the winless jinx against the Elmina side.

Asante Kotoko 1-0 Eleven Wonders

Asante Kotoko secured a narrow 1-0 win against Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Stadium in the season opener.

Justice Blay’s first-half header was enough to secure the win for the home side.

Kotoko intermittently had opportunities but could not add to their tally as Yacouba and Okrah kept missing chances to end the game in a solitary goal victory for the home team.

Ashantigold 3-0 Accra Great Olympics FC

Ashantigold registered an emphatic 3-0 victory against Accra Great Olympics on Sunday at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

Yusif Mubarik, Amos Addai and Shafiu Mumuni were all on target as The Miners begin the campaign with a convincing win.

Liberty Professionals 2-2 Legon Cities FC

Liberty Professionals came from behind to snatch a point against Legon Cities in Matchday One of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League.

Legon Cities blew a 2-0 lead to draw against Liberty Professionals at Dansoman.

Sulley Sadiq and Jeffrey Degorl were on target for Legon Cities, while Elvis K. Baffour and Michael Ampadu were on target for the home side.


Ebusua Dwarfs 1-3 Medeama SC

Ebusua Dwarfs suffered a home defeat in their first game of the season at Cape Coast against superb Medeama.

Ebenezer Ackahbi, Prince Opoku, and Nana Kofi Babli were all on target for the visiting team while Albert Gaisie scored the only goal for the home side.

Aduana Stars 4-0 Inter Allies FC

Defending champions Aduana Stars are off to a flying start after registering a 4-0 win against Inter Allies on Sunday at Dormaa.

Yahaya Mohammed registered the first hat trick of the competition in their home win. Justice Anane was also on the score sheet for the home side.

Aduana Stars are currently sitting on the top of the Ghana Premier League table after Matchday One.

Dreams FC 4-1 King Faisal

Dreams FC registered a commanding 4-1 home victory against newcomers King Faisal in the opening game of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

Emmanuel Ocran scored twice to put his team in front before Isaah Ibrahim and Ahmed Dantani registered their name on the score sheet.

Karela United 0-1 WAFA SC

Karela United suffered a narrow defeat at home to WAFA SC in the opening game of the season.

Forson Amankwah’s goal was the only thing that separated both teams at Tarkwa on Sunday.
