Ghana Premier League: Match Week Seven Review

Inter Allies bagged all three points as they overcame a resilient King Faisal side to win 4-2 in a dramatic six-goal thriller on match day-7 of the Ghana Premier League in Accra on Friday afternoon.

The Tema based outfit went ahead through captain Victorien Adebayor and Samuel Armah in the first half but a switch in tactics from Coach Anthony Commey set the tone for the next half as they found equalizers through Osman Ibrahim and Mohammed Mustapha to bring the game to 2-2.

The host were back in the ascendancy as two quick goals from Samuel Armah and Michael Gyamerah spurred their blushes basking all three points against struggling King Faisal, who are still winless after seven round of matches in the domestic flight league.

Elsewhere, a brace from one of the countries predatory strikers, Diawisie Taylor and a goal from Samuel Ofori was enough for Karela United to record an overwhelming victory over Accra based, Legon Cities FC on Friday at the Akoon park in Tarkwa.

The pair came into this match with Karela beating the away side by a solitary goal in a prior game. The host utilized the home advantage counted in their favour producing a well-deserving performance to outshine Coach Enos Adepa’s former side, Legon Cities. This win marks the second victory of the season for the home side as they come off from a three-match winless streak.

Ghana Premier League: Elmina Sharks 1-1 Eleven Wonders

On Saturday, Elmina Sharks failed to take all three points when they clashed with fellow Premier opponents, Eleven Wonders. Both sides had to settle for a 1-1 draw at the Ndoum Stadium in their match week seven encounter. The away side drew first blood through, Sule Musa but Gustav Addington put the host back on level as they match ended in a stalemate.

Hearts of Oak defied all odds to beat Dreams F. C at the Dawu Park by a solitary Kofi Kodja goal. Prior to this duel, both sides had lost their round six encounters and needed to get results back in their favour. But it was the away side, Hearts of Oak who responded very well to their last defeat in the league to beat Dreams F. C.

Aduana Stars proved too strong for Medeama SC at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park when Yahaya Mohammed scored the only goal of the match to gift the home side all three points meaning they move to the summit of the table.

Meanwhile, Accra Great Olympics were bruised when they lost to WAFA at home. WAFA came into the match after losing at home to Liberty and needed results to point in their favour. They didn’t disappoint as they responded positively to beat Olympics by a goal to nil through a Eric Asamany

At the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Bechem United proved too strong for table toppers, Berekum Chelsea and as they posted a two-goal victory over their regional rivals. Goals from Mensah Charles and Adu Kwabena Prince and consolation from Agbesimah K. made sure the Bechem faithfuls basked all three points at home posting Berekum Chelsea’s first defeat of the season.

At the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi Asante Kotoko rallied from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Dansoman based Liberty Professionals. Kotoko were coming into this match with two things in their favour, one being the fact that they beat their bitter rivals, Hearts of Oak away and, two always having the edge whenever they play Liberty at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. But this time, Liberty put in a stunning display to pick a point at Kotoko. Liberty went ahead through Muntari Tagoe before Mensah W equalized.

Obuasi based Ashanti Gold were back to winning ways as they thwarted the efforts of a resurgent Ebusua Dwarfs who prior to this duel had seriously dealt with Dreams F.C at the Cape Coast Stadium a fortnight ago.
