Ghana Blackstars gave off an assertive performance to edge out their Zimbabwean opponents in a match they needed to pick all 3 points in a bid to keep the pressure on current table toppers, South Africa.

The South African side smashed  Ethiopia away from home by 3-1 to solidify their position at the top of the summit.

With that in mind, Ghana knew nothing short of the 3 points would be the desired result in an operation 12 point agenda for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Rajevac named a mixture of experience and youthful exuberant lads who got off to a flying start through Ajax man Mohammed Kudus slotting the ball beyond the reach of Zimbabwe goalkeeper of which the team will protect till halftime.

After the recess, a silly trip from France-based defender Alexander Djiku saw the referee award penalty from which Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona converted expertly beyond 49 minutes.

The away side grew confident after the equalizer hitting the post twice through Knox Mutizwa’s stunning effort from the edge of the box but inspired substitutions from Rajevac taking off Jordan, Fatawu bringing on Baba Iddrisu and Benjamin Tetteh which propelled the team to its second goal through Partey hitting a belter to send the home fans into ruptures.

Ayew sealed the victory with three minutes remaining through a textbook assist from Baba Rahman who gave off an assured performance on the day after a series of backlash in the national team jersey.

Ghana will need to up their game away from home should they stand a chance of qualifying to Qatar 2022 against Zimbabwe in Harare.
