    GBC Director General refutes $3m payment claims by Sports Minister

    The Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Prof. Amin Alhassan, has revealed that his outfit received only $105,000, and not $3 million as speculated by the Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

     



    The Sports Minister intimated that the Ministry had paid over $3 million to GBC for their coverage of the 13th All African Games during a session with the Public Accounts Committee.

    But in sharp contrast to the assertions that GBC had received the said amount, Prof. Alhassan refuted the claims made by the Minister in an interview on GTV.

    “We facilitated payments to foreign third parties who came in to do the production and not for the benefit of GBC. GBC’s benefit, I repeat, is $105,000 and that is what we got.

    The Public Accounts Committee will continue their sitting tomorrow to ascertain the veracity of the claims made by their respective government agencies.
