Fred Moore defends remuneration packages of GFA officials

Accra Hearts of Oak CEO, Frederick Moore has strongly backed the committee’s work in light of growing concerns that the remuneration packages they put together was too exorbitant and would have dire implications on the country’s scare resource.

The Committee was tasked with the responsibility of drawing up a remuneration package for Ghana Football Association particularly the President, Vice as well as ExCo members.

They presented their recommendations which have approved at the recent 26th Ordinary Congress upon several deliberations. approved the figures.

According to Fred Moore, people should consider the value of work that the Ghana Football Association officials would undertake rather than the numbers that are being thrown about in the media.

In an interview with Citi FM, he pointed out the officials have the interest of the overall game at hand.

“We have to be very careful if we really want to improve Ghana football that we don’t only see the cost but also notice what the value can be.”

“It is easy to see a cost,it is more difficult to see the value because if the FA continues the way they are working and they bring real value to Ghana football, those monies will be insignificant.

“We didn’t just propose those figures, we compared it against other associations in West Africa excluding Nigeria because that would have seriously distorted it. We also compared it against companies in Ghana including NGO’s before arriving at those figures.

    Breakdown of Allowances

The President, Kurt Okraku will duly receive a  monthly allowance of GHS 12,000, Vice President, Mark Addo will take home a cool  GHS 7,000 whiles the Executive Council members will be paid GHS 4000 as allowances.

    Meeting Allowances

With regards to meeting allowance, the President will take home GHS 1600, his vice will pocket GHS 1400 as meeting allowance with the Executive Council members also receiving GHS 1300.

These new changes to the allowances and bonuses structure have since been met with lots of backlash from the public spectacle on electronic media, social media as well as other mediums, with many claiming that the Kurt led administration that preached on the mantra of “”bringing back the love” are taking exorbitant allowances that will have dire implications on the public purse of the country.

However, the new payment structure will eliminate the system of paying ex-gratia to EXCO members at the end of their tenure with members of the previous administration getting a $15,000 payout.
