Former Black Stars forward Prince Tagoe has been detained until January 4, 2023.

The Ghanaian forward was detained following accusations leveled against him by Ghana Black Stars assistant coach, George Boateng of defrauding him of $40,000.

His Honor, who presided over the Circuit Court in Accra Despite pleading not guilty, Mr. Samuel Bright Acquah remanded the former footballer in detention.

Ex-footballer Tagoe’s defense lawyer, Lawyer George Asamani, pleaded for his release on bail, but prosecutor Chief Inspector Agartha Abena Asantewaa rejected it, alleging Tagoe poses a flight risk.

The argument made in court was that Tagoe had consented to import a 4X4 Lexus vehicle for the former Aston Villa youth coach but failed to duly deliver on his promise of shipping the car to Ghana in over two years since the agreement as such his detention.

The next hearing is expected in January while the player remains in custody.
