Five things we learned from Ghana 1-0 win against Ethiopia

Ghana got their World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign off to a flying start as they beat Ethiopia by a solitary goal at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

    1. Ghana controlled possession for most parts of the game but failed to create any clear goal-scoring opportunity even though the team has loads of attacking talent to wreak havoc to their Ethiopian side counterparts.

    1. There were variations in personnel that saw the attacking duo of the Ayew brothers switch positions, as well as Kamal Sulemana, joining them where necessary.
    2. Mubarak Wakaso was arguably the best player on the day for the home side, Blackstars intercepting most of the attacks from the away side and starting one for the home side. His goal from over 30 yards proved vital for 3 points.

    1. Daniel Amartey and Alexander Djiku’s partnership in defence will give C.K Akunnor an assurance of what is to come as they complemented each other during the 90-minute spell giving South African-based goalie Richard Ofori little to do in post.
    2. The laterals(Baba Rahman, Andy Yiadom) didn’t disappoint in their respective roles assigned them as they joined attacks on repeated occasions as well as manned their positions at the back making it virtually impossible for the Ethiopians to penetrate resorting to other means.

Ghana will take on South Africa in the next few days after the latter dropped points against Zimbabwe in Harare…
