The Black Stars covered themselves in glory with a thumping victory over the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers at Meknes, Morocco.

Two goals in either half of the game by Mohammed Salisu and Thomas Partey were enough for the gallant Black Stars to wrap up all three points at the expense of their host in Meknes, Morocco.

Otto Addo had spoken about his team in a comfortable lead, and that showed in the attacking lineup he put out against the Central African Republic.

Benjaimen Asare was named in the post, flanked by Yirenkyi, Salisu, Djiku, and Mensah in defense, with Sibo and Thomas Partey as the double pivot. Kudus, Semenyo, and  Fatawu formed the attacking trio while Jordan Ayew led the attack.

The away side created a host of chances, but their efforts were rewarded on the 20th minute mark as French-based defender, Mohammed Salisu rose the highest to Mohammed Kudus ’corner kick for the opener.

There were other chances for Kudus, Semenyo, Sibo, and Djiku, but they failed to make it count with the first half ending by a lone goal in favor of the visitors.

The second half remained unchanged in lineups, but seven minutes later, Jordan Ayew single-handedly took on the Central African Republic defense to tee up Tomas Partey, who had little to do, poking in the second goal.

Jordan Ayew’s looping header on the 70th-minute mark found the head of teammate Alex Djiku.

The Black Stars captain crowned his efforts after two assists with a sublime goal to leave the game at 4-0, his 7th goal in the qualifying series.

Second-half substitutes Joseph Painstil and Kamaldeen combined to score the fifth goal of the game.

They held on to pick all three points, bringing them to 22 points in group I.
