FEATURED: Prosper Narteh resignation; Kotoko making a mistake?

In the late embers of Thursday, June 21, 2022, we(football lovers and stakeholders)were sprung with a big surprise, Prosper Ogun Narteh tendering his resignation to the board through the management.

I had lots of questions racing through my mind in search of concrete answers but I found the situation hazy to contend with at the time.

For starters, I’m asking myself that, why would a championship-winning coach opt to resign from such a lucrative job, Kotoko at a time, when things were beginning to fall in place for him, winning the Ghana Premier League which had long eluded them for some time and aiding the team back to Africa.

It wasn’t until some hours later that numerous stories began to pop up, a number of them purely unsubstantiated claims that he (coach Prosper Ogun Narteh)had not been paid for months, his transfer list made to management/board didn’t meet their requirements.

To a large extent, this is not the first of its kind having the management or board members interfering with transfer-related issues but as such, if you give someone a task to perform you need to provide them the necessary environment, support, and resources in order for them to execute the needed mandate at hand, you can’t blame them if things go southside.

In a released statement by, Kotoko, they have come out to outrightly dismiss claims of Prosper Ogun Narteh’s resignation from the club asking the general public to disregard such information.

But then again, issues of resignation are purely contractual, I am no lawyer here but from the little I am privy to, both parties would have to reach a consensus for termination of the contract, also if one party feels aggrieved, he/she/entity has to do the needful before you are let go from a bonded contract.

Enough said this resignation feels like two steps back, I know some inner facets of the club will disagree but this is largely an expressed opinion on the recent happenings at the club.

Kotoko needs to know they are coming from a long corner of trophy drought, heading to Africa to contend with the big guns they need to put their house in order, and raid the entire floors of all the cobwebs.
