FEATURED: Ghana PL Poor Refereeing Intentional?

Football is undoubtedly the beloved sport of Ghanaians, who will do everything within their realms to watch their clubs from time to time.

During the C0VID-19 period, fans were barred from watching their clubs not to talk of cheering them on to victory at the end of the day.

Over the years, Ghanaian Referees have become an integral part of the football circle; this is to say that, without the “men in black” steering the affairs on the field, clubs cannot play with a valid winner declared on the day.

The Ghana Premier League 2020-21 campaign has reached a very crucial point of the season, with some clubs (Hearts, Kotoko, Aduana, Medeama) gunning to increase their trophy haul, whiles others(Inter Allies, Liberty, King Faisal, Legon Cities) are looking to escape the dungeons of relegation.

This is the very period, Ghanaian referees have endlessly wailed to the Ghana Football Association to at least settle some of their long-standing arrears from the first round of the Ghana Premier League 2020-21 season to help fuel their expenses.

As to whether the GFA will channel efforts in softening the financial conundrum that the men in black are facing remains unknown, there have been growing reports of “bad” officiating from the referees but it is unclear if these are geared towards expressing their displeasure to the top hierarchy or unduly aiding some clubs in achieving their set goals by the end of the season.

The GFA has a responsibility in ensuring that Ghanaian referees are properly cared for in order for them to dutifully discharge their duties to the very best of their expertise, whiles the latter also has the mandate towards clubs, fans, stakeholders, sponsors to ensure they act accordingly to the laws that repose confidence in them when they take to the pitch on any day in the exercise of their duties.

The betterment of Ghana Football is what we all aspire for, it’s a gradual process, hopefully, we will get there, if everyone executes their duties very well.
