Exclusive: Serbian Coach lands in Accra to takeover Hearts of Oak

Accra Hearts of Oak are said to be ready to appoint Serbian, Slavko Matic as Samuel Boadu replacement 


The Club has been without a head coach after the sacking of Samuel Boadu last month and reports indicate that management has found a new tactician to lead the club.

Serbian trainer Slavko Matic has landed in Accra to take charge of the current FA Cup champions. Incoming reports indicate Slavko landed in Accra last night per Nhyira Power Sports.

Slavko Matic is a holder of the UEFA Pro Licence. In his playing days, he played for OFK Beograd, Spartak Moscow, PFC Slavia Sofia and PFC CSKA Sofia.

Matić has had a short stint as manager of Arda Kardzhali  between 12 November and 16 December 2021, being released from his duties following a controversial interview, in which he revealed serious issues inside the club.

Matic was hired as  Septemvri Sofia coach in the  second tier of Bulgarian football, in early 2022. The Serbian is set to join Hearts of Oak soon as the club continues to make changes to their technical team.



It is unknown whether he will he unveiled in time to take charge of the return league of the CAF Confederations cup against AS Bamako.

Until then, assistant coach David Ocloo will continue to act as interim head coach with Nii Boi assisting him. The two were at the hlm of affairs as Hearts of Oak lost 3-0 in Mali.

The team is hoping to overturn the result come sunday as they host the return leg.
