Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Technical Director, Francis Oti Akenteng, has expressed his readiness to accept any appointment offered by the current administration led by Kurt Okraku.

Oti Akenteng previously held the position of technical director during Kwesi Nyantakyi’s tenure as FA boss, but his role was terminated when Okraku was elected as the head of the country’s football governing body in October 2019. He was then replaced by German trainer, Bernhard Lippert.

In a recent interview with Takoradi-based WestGold Radio, the experienced football administrator stated that he is eager to contribute his expertise and serve in any capacity within the association if given the opportunity.

Despite being removed from the technical director position, Oti Akenteng affirmed that he still possesses the passion and determination to work for the advancement of Ghanaian football.

He said, “To be completely honest, this kind of change happens everywhere. I don’t know the specific reason for my removal, but I am still capable and willing to work. Though I’m not currently leading the association, if they believe I can be of service and call upon me, I will gladly accept the chance to serve again.”

During his time as technical director, Oti Akenteng asserted that he fulfilled various responsibilities to promote football development in the country. However, he felt that his efforts might not have received enough recognition and publicity.

“I accomplished everything that needed to be done during my tenure, but my work didn’t receive adequate publicity for people to fully grasp the significant contributions I made.”

“There’s nothing the association is doing now that I didn’t do when I was in charge. However, we are currently working behind the scenes to support the growth of our football,” he explained.

Despite not being involved in the launch of football DNA, Oti Akenteng expressed his willingness to serve Ghanaian football again if given the chance.

“I wasn’t part of the launch of football DNA, but I possess valuable experience, and if the GFA needs me, I won’t hesitate to serve Ghana football once more,” he added.

Having a long and distinguished history of service to the GFA since 2006, Oti Akenteng has played a crucial role in the growth and development of Ghanaian football.

His vast experience and dedication to the sport make him a valuable asset, and his eagerness to continue contributing bodes well for the future of Ghanaian football under the leadership of Kurt Okraku.
